Our story begins in Ho Chi Minh in 2003, when our mothers' forced us into childhood friendship. We grew up together but as we got older, we went our separate ways and pursued our passions & careers.

Fast forward to 2020, and we quickly realised we had a lot of shared experiences and quite similar personalities, both being loud, slightly stubborn and very boisterous.

So naturally we decided to go into business together.

Our ‘eureka’ moment came about in Vietnam in early 2022, when we came to the agreement that paper straws were, to put it mildly, terrible to use, and that there had to be a better solution, both for the drinker and for the environment.

And there was. HÚT was born.

WHAT IS HÚT?

Did you know that once a paper straw has been used, it's incredibly difficult to recycle? They also require commercial composting, but more often then not, who's got time to find a commercial composting bin when out and about sipping on iced coffee? So really, how sustainable are paper straws?

HÚT is our solution to the problem. Our uprising against greenwashing and soggy straws. We are a straw made from rice & tapioca, with all natural food based ingredients including food derived colours. We are here to give you a better time, and to offer you full transparency when it comes to sustainability.
